This is Paul VI street, one of the main roads through the town of Bethlehem to Manger Square. The town itself is absolutely filthy, as can be seen in this view. Note the tacky Christmas decorations. You can buy blow-up Santa Claus's in the shop, but its almost impossible to get lunch anywhere. One light-hearted interlude - when I was walking across Manger Square on 31st December, a local arab trying to sell trinkets came up to me and wished me 'Happy Easter'...
This is the spot in the crypt underneath the Church of the Nativity in Manger Square which is reputed to be the birthplace of Christ.
