A view east along Chandpol Bazaar, one of the main thoroughfares of Jaipur, from the top of the
Iswari Minar Swarga Sal (Heaven Piercing Minaret). The city was painted pink for the visit of the future King Edward VII while he
was still Prince of Wales - although it looks more orange than pink now, much of the old city retains the colour.
Hawa Mahal, or Palace of the Winds, was constructed in 1799.

The Amber Palace, 11km north of Jaipur, was the ancient capital of the Jaipur state.
The fortifications along the hills surrounding the palace are reminiscent of the Great Wall of China.
