I stayed in a suburb of Nairobi with friends. Security is tight - houses
all tend to have gates and fences, often electric, night-time security guards
and intruder alarms.
Much is different from home, but the strangest things are the same - this
bus is in the livery of Stagecoach Bus Company, which runs a large proportion
of the bus services in Britain, as well as elsewhere in the world.
It is said that the Matatu is Kenya's contribution to world society. These
brightly painted, privately owned, minibuses are always packed and have a
reputation for being very dangerous due to the appalling quality of the driving.
They tend to follow the route of the main bus services and are very popular
with the locals as a means of commuting to work.
This friendly giraffe is to be found at the giraffe sanctuary in Nairobi,
where visitors can feed these amazing animals.
